Farming fish on land?

Yes, it is possible to farm fish on land. Stichting Zeeuwse Tong has started a trial farm where Sole is cultivated, along with ragworm, shellfish and sea crops. The intended result: a blueprint for establishing a profitable business and training programme. The project is not just unique within the Netherlands but beyond our borders as well.

Only Zeeland Sole?

In addition to cultivating fish, trials and research are also being conducted into cultivating mussels, algae and shellfish. Companies such as Schelpdierkweekbedrijf Wilhelminapolder, Neeltje Jans and Zeeland Aquacultuur B.V. have started pilot projects within the Council.
